Wild Sweets® By Dominique & Cindy Duby have announced an exciting new chocolate art installation at the Richmond Art Gallery City Hall Galleria.
Titled as Wild Sweets® CoCoArt…from Cocoa bean to Chocolate to Art!, the installation will go live at the City Hall Galleria (until June 17, 2019)
For this installation, Dominique & Cindy Duby partnered with graphic artist Linda Mitsui, a talented visual artist and owner of Profile Design Group, to create CoCoArt sculptures made entirely out of chocolate. Each sculpture weights approximately 75 lbs each in the shapes of ‘Abstract Geometry’.
Dominique and Cindy Duby, said, “We’re excited to collaborate with the Richmond Art Gallery City Hall Galleria and launch a first-of-its-kind chocolate art installation. As long-time international culinary art competitor and world acclaimed chocolatiers, we are always seeking new ways to push the creative boundaries through science, but also art. As local entrepreneurs and world leaders in our field, we look forward to showing our community members a completely novel perspective on chocolate through art at this exhibition.”
The vision behind the art direction was to organically reconstruct a geometric sphere shape. Additionally, the installation will also include print canvases of Wild Sweet’s award-winning CoCoArt photography showcasing their hand-painted chocolates as the main focal point. The canvases also feature other food ingredients, colours and photographic techniques including lighting and perspectives resulting in visually unique compositions.
Shaun Dacey, Director of the Richmond Art Gallery, said, “We are very pleased to collaborate with Wild Sweets® creative team to highlight a unique approach to art, using chocolate as their medium, at the Richmond Art Gallery. Their exhibit will include chocolate sculptures and canvases of photographic compositions, which they coined as ‘CoCoArt’. The Richmond Art Gallery aims to support local artists and the upcoming Wild Sweets installation is a novel and completely distinct addition to the gallery.”
