“Fifty Shades of Pretty Cake 2014”
The Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show hosted by Kerry Vincent of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
September 2014 will be all the sweeter for you if you save the dates and once again compete at the Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show where CAKE ROYALTY will stage another amazing showcase of lofty sugared creations spinning sugar tales in Fifty Shades of Pretty Cake. This magnificent display of wedding cakes will take pride of place in the Creative Arts location of the River Spirit Expo Building (formerly Quiktrip Center), lower level.
On Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. on September 26, one by one, anxious competitors will start to arrive, register their entries, and then move their precious showpieces onto the exhibition floor. Final preparations are completed on Saturday morning September 27 between 7:30 and 10:00 a.m. Note that the event is NOT ready for public viewing until after 10:00 a.m.
The atmosphere bustles with the rustle of fabrics being pinned, last minute touch-ups, the agony of repair, then cakes revealed in all their glory, as nervous competitors complete the registration process. Finally the public unveiling will happen at 10:00 a.m. sharp, Saturday, September 27, continuing through 28, 2014. These showpieces have artwork that may have taken weeks or months to complete.
Heading into 2014, competitors are already lining up to register their preferred themes. They are determined to figure out the formula that will give them the extra edge to aid in designing the winning cake. I know we will see the most amazing drop-dead gorgeous cakes ever.
Cake aficionados travel thousands of miles to be a part of this iconic exhibition. It would be fair to say that competitors credit success at this event to be a key that opens doors to television possibilities, presenting, teaching and other exciting avenues that involve the sugar arts.
General fair admission is $10 per person. There is no additional charge to see the Grand National Wedding Cake Competition, sugar art show or world-class demonstrations presented during the day.
