Pastry Live 2014
August 24-26
200 Peachtree, Atlanta, GA

The face of pastry competitions is changing. Pastry Live, a culinary event in its 4th year, has taken the pastry community by storm. With over 100 chefs in 7 competitions, Pastry Live pushes the boundaries of artistry and composition like no other competition of its nature. Held in downtown Atlanta, on the famous Peachtree Street, Pastry Live brings together top industry leaders and pastry artists to share ideas and promote growth.

Pastry Live 2014 seminars

Michael Joy, artist and owner of The Chicago School of Mold Making, will be giving a presentation about expanding your creativity. Usually associated with his mold-making skills, Michael will break from the mold and discuss methods for chefs to develop their creativity far beyond looking at other chefs’ work for inspiration. This presentation is loaded with pictures and fascinating stories outlining his unusual journey from fine arts to culinary arts and back again.

Pastry Live is excited to host highly-acclaimed Pastry Chef Jimmy MacMillan. Chef MacMillan will demonstrate his contemporary restaurant desserts, “Intense Chocolate Custard with Huckleberries and Ginger Meringues” and “Nebbiolo Barolo” featuring chocolate, strawberries and wine. Chef MacMillan has won numerous awards including Top Ten Pastry Chef in America and produces the Emmy® Award-winning Chicago Restaurant Pastry Competition video series that spotlights top pastry chefs from all over the country.

Sunday, August 24th
Student Chocolate Challenge, Pastry Atlanta,
and Chocolatier of the Year Competition.

Student Chocolate Challenge offers students the opportunity to experience the world of competitions, while allowing schools to come together in a friendly, competitive environment. Current baking and pastry students from schools across the country are asked to create and present chocolate showpieces exhibiting their creativity and talents. Showpieces are critiqued based on the overall artistic appeal and originality of the finished work, as well as the amount of technique and skill displayed.

Pastry Atlanta features the city’s finest pastry chefs from area restaurants, bakeries, hotels and more. Each will share samples of their best desserts and pastries with our audience in hopes of winning one of Pastry Live’s “Atlanta’s Best” awards. Promoting Atlanta’s thriving pastry scene to both regional and national audiences, Pastry Atlanta highlights local chefs while helping to build the pastry community at the same time.
