Since 2002 the Südback Trend Award has been given to companies who have actively helped to shape the future. During Südback, the bakery and confectionery trade fair which will be held in Stuttgart from 22 to 25 October 2022, an expert jury will select good concepts, new product designs and the best technical innovations in the bakery trade and for the first time it will be possible to vote also for the Audience Award among the nominees. Voting will take place online from July onwards on www.suedback.com/trendaward and during the fair visitors will find out which company will be given the additional prize.
Into the future with courage and vigour
“We have all certainly been faced with enormous challenges during the last two years. However, I am proud that we as an industry did not lose courage and look to the future with confidence and full of vigour”, emphasised prof. Michael Kleinert, head of the Institute of Food and Beverage Innovation at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, and involved in the Südback Trend Award for many years as the jury chairman.
When evaluating the submitted ideas, the jury assesses the following criteria: degree of innovation, utility and user-friendliness, use or implementation with economically justifiable expense, functionality and operational safety, environmental compatibility, recycling and hygiene. Companies can take part in the competition in three categories: Marketing, sales & organisation, Raw materials & convenience, and Technology.
The winners will receive a quality seal for their performance; they will be announced before the start of the trade fair so that they can use the quality seal in advance for advertising measures and the imminent trade fair presentation. The official Award presentation ceremony will then be held during the official opening of Südback when due recognition will again be given to the innovations.
About the Südback Trend Award
The Südback Trend Award is jointly organised by Messe Stuttgart, the BÄKO Head Office and the State Association of Guilds of Württemberg Bakers for Südback. The competition is only open to innovations which were introduced or developed to market maturity after 1 January 2021 and are about to be launched on the market. The participants must be able to present the latter products at Südback 2022 as series products. All German and international companies exhibiting at Südback are eligible to participate in the competition. Functional systems, complete installations and individual parts or designs can be registered and submitted as competition entries. Participation in this competition is free. The closing date for entries is 31 May 2022.
