The ‘barking’ gelato

Gelateria Miretti celebrates the four-legged friends by offering them a lactose-free fior di latte, with low sugars.

On July 27th, for each gelato cup purchased, Mr. Leonardo La Porta, gelato maker at Gelateria Miretti in Turin, Italy, presents a special gelato for dogs, specifically for four-legged friends, offered in a 100-gram cup with the purchase of the first.
A good, healthy, and social gelato.
The idea of producing a gelato for dogs is the result of careful development, in collaboration with a veterinarian, to ensure it is good and healthy. It is a lactose-free fior di latte, with low sugars, without fat and with potato fiber. It can be consumed in the shop or purchased in jars ready to take home and even ordered for delivery. The social impact also should not be underestimated: no one resists the desire to photograph their dog while he happily consumes his ration and to post the image. The simple jar with a paper lid contains 120 grams of gelato and costs 3 euros. “This is not – comments La Porta – a sale with large numbers; it is a welcome proposal which has made us even more known. It all started from a great love for animals: when I was younger I had a German shepherd, but he passed away and for many years I no longer had any other pets. Some time later, we decided to get a cat, more “compatible” with work commitments. And so, with this initiative, we can pamper many dogs again!”.
